Win7 or How to Stop Worrying and Love Windows

As most Tech-Savvy people with connections are finding out, Windows 7 has the potential to really hit it off with users. I’ve been passed a copy of the pre-beta O/S as it has made its way around the circles in my group of friends, and I am impressed. Really impressed. I have had a really good play with it, and here is my opinion.
Not wanting to risk anything, I installed it under VMWare Workstation, on an Intel Q6600 CPU, with 2GB of RAM, as a Host O/S. The install was complete in under an hour, and I was ready to go! It feels funny, as Macintosh users usually exclaim, that the computer is ready to use the first time you start up. Windows 7 has made a decent step towards this. It comes packed with more drivers than Vista, and I was able to plug some pretty obscure accessories that failed with Vista, but worked with 7. You will still need to install a security suite, and I did so with the Norton 2009 beta, which was fast, and thin, as proclaimed. After that, it’s business as usual. Another thing to point out, is that Windows 7 is stable. Now, what I am saying here, is that pre-beta, non-public release software, is “stable”. In my opinion, Windows Vista isn’t stable. I have never had a crash with Windows 7, and I hope that it will continue to the disc-printing stage.
It’s hard to put it into words, so I will keep this short. Windows 7 is a definite revolution in the Windows cycle. As they say, never buy any point-0 of a software. Just like with the iPhone, 2.0 was a shambles, but the later versions picked up on the philosophy. You can see Windows 7 this way. Many others have said this, and so do I, that Windows 7, is “Vista done Right”.

I’ve also tested Windows 7. It already feels like a great os. I can’t wait to see the real thing later on.
It will indeed be Vista done right.

[...] Jack Webster claims that the Window 7 pre-beta is stable. I have a hard time getting excited about this. Surely Microsoft has learned from its mistakes and can make reasonably stable software now, right? [...]

Nice thoughts on Windows 7, Chris. I agree. Ever since installing it, I have found myself enjoying it immensely. It seems lighter and definitely faster than Vista - and Vista wasn’t slow, either.
I hope Microsoft stays on this track. It’s looking good.

The pin bar reminds me A LOT of Dock in OS X. Microsoft still can’t come up with new ideas. Shame on you, Microsoft!
I still don’t believe in Windows 7. MAC FOR THE WIN!

Well am perpetually waiting for Windows 7 and constantly asking in the chatroom ‘when its gonna release’.
Seriously,am keen to use it and as i dont have much greater download speed,i’ve not even bothered to download it.
So i heard its gonna get released somewhere in august, fingers crossed.
Right now am using Vista with taskbar disabled and using object dock.
It just cool,very cool.
