Microsoft Opens WHS Channel on YouTube

Some things require pictures as well as words of help and encouragement. Apparently Microsoft believes that Windows Home Server is one of those things.

Whether it is because the company is not able to sufficiently dumb-down the interface, or the crowd using the application is especially hapless, it is not clear, but the establishment of a permanent YouTube repository of help will certainly make many users of the Home Server software very happy.

Microsoft have opened up a new channel to communicate with the Windows Home Server community. Originally reported on the Windows Home Server Blog, here is what the software team at Microsoft had to say:
Whenever I’m confused on how to do something and am looking for some help, YouTube is one of the first places I go. Without fail, I can always find some form of video that gives me the answer I need. The Windows Home Server team has also seen the benefits of YouTube, and we thought it would be helpful and fun for our customers if we started making our own videos!
Now, with the new creation of our Windows Home Server videos, we have made our very own Windows Home Server channel on YouTube. On the channel, you will find variety of different videos including:
Team interviews – learn about Windows Home Server’s team members and how they use the product in their day-to-day lives.
Windows Home Server overviews – if you are still learning about Windows Home Server, watch an overview on how it can beneficial in your home or even a small business.
Informational how-to screen casts – each how-to video will show you how to use various features of Windows Home Server.

Still you must look and see that the irony here is able to be cut with a knife – Microsoft using its self-sworn rival to get out the message to WHS users. perhaps we should look at it as a bow of Microsoft in realizing that YouTube is the best way, and that Microsoft has no equal at its disposal.
