Possible Value In Miscellaneous Ramblings- Twitter Valued At Up to $1 Billion

I can hear all the rambling, train of thought, disjointed speakers now, claiming that this validates their inane style. Through a minor twist and some financial wrangling, entrepreneur Biz Stone’s Twitter is now given a value of up to $1 billion - in actual dollars.
Hard to believe, and yet inevitably believable, the entity seems to have taken on a life of its own, mowing through problems like a couple of ‘tweetpocalypses’, where quickly designed clients have flaws in design that get revealed by usage, as each individual tweet has an assigned number, or problems where sheer volume has ground the system to a halt.
Growing pains, you don’t have to love them, but, if you’re a serious tweeter, you certainly have had to put up with them.

Twitter is nearing a deal for as much as US$100 million from a group of investors who say they believe the Internet short messaging giant is worth about $1 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site.
A group of investors including mutual fund giant T. Rowe Price and several private equity firms and venture capital companies are expected to sign the deal with Twitter soon. The money will give Twitter more time to figure out a business model. Twitter currently brings in no steady revenue and has only recently talked about working out advertising deals next year.
A spokesman for T. Rowe Price declined to comment on the deal.
Insight Venture Partners, a private equity firm, as well as Spark Capital and Institutional Venture Partners are other groups involved in the current Twitter deal, the Journal says.
It gives hope to the schemers everywhere, as you truly do not know where and when the next big thing will come from.
This deal comes less than 6 months from a time that Twitter was having trouble growing, as it was losing users as quickly as it was gaining others. There are not many things that have survived this type of usage pattern.
I personally think the saving grace, for Twitter’s benefit, is the unnatural fixation that many have with celebrities, and the fact that those celebrities think their ideas are inherently worthwhile. It was a microcosm bound to grow, and, if you’ll pardon the phrase, ‘ a marriage made in heaven ‘.
