Xoxide – Back In Business Again…For How Long

Xoxide is a website where computer modders went to drool over the very good selection of stock, and pictures of that stock better than most other sites show.
This was especially helpful if no store stocks the items you are looking at, so that the purchase does not have to be a completely blind one.
The selection, and great looking site had a down side, however, because the prices were less than spectacular.
Because of that, several places had reported that the site was going out of business, and that the prices were finally enticing.
Apparently the site was not being closed, but sold, if possible, and now it seems that it was possible. The new owners are trying to capitalize on the push gotten from the publicity generated by shutting down.

A few days ago, we reported that the good old site Xoxide.com was going out of business. We really didn’t know the details of why or how other than there was a fire sale going on and the current owners were even putting the site up for sale using a bidding auction.Well, the fire sale went on until Thursday once the bidding for the site had ended. In the end, Xoxide.com was sold for $76,000 USD and the current owners are now restocking the site in order to capitalize on all this news about the site going out of business. This entire situation was indeed confirmed by internal sources that the old owners were indeed planning on getting rid of the site and did just that. The additional thing is that this was not a scheme to make quick sales and get rid of some items and then say they were back in business. There is new management, and frankly we’re interested to see if they run the site any differently. The only problem is now that a lot of people who made orders during the fire sale are either getting orders canceled or they are worried they’ll never see their merchandise that they paid for.So in a sense, customers may still be getting ripped off and we hope that the new owners address these concerns in an absolute manner or else they’ll lose even more money than the previous owners. As it stands, we have no idea how the new site will be run… but it’s safe to assume it won’t be the exact same way the old owners did considering they no longer have any hand in how it will be run.Editor’s note: Given the details of fire sale and cancellations of the orders that are now taking place - we would advise our North American readers to contact their Consumer Protection agencies immediately. In case of USA, FTC can move swiftly if you feel damaged by the old owners.
Ooh, cancellations of sales? That’s not a good thing. I’m glad I did not bite, because I would have felt compelled to fight.
Here in Southern California, there used to be a place, that year after year, would hold a going out of business sale, and then magically start back up in business a couple of months later, complete with more television commercials.
About 7 or 8 years ago, someone, or something, finally put the stake through its heart, and it disappeared forever, we hope. That company was called Colton Piano and Organ Supermart, and it was quite a funny thing to watch on Los Angeles television stations, usually moving from channel to channel with each iteration of the ‘going out of business sale’.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out – the difference I see is that I don’t believe that any of the orders were ever cancelled from any of the ‘sellouts‘ at Colton Piano & Organ.
Another seller, made somewhat [nationally] famous by inclusion in television shows, Crazy Gideon, in Los Angeles, is ostensibly going out of business. Some people on the East Coast will recognize the same style as someone there made somewhat [nationally] famous called Crazy Eddie – who knows, they could be brothers, or cousins. Same sales techniques. Some of the things shown in the closeout ads are DVD camcorders for $200,,,no telling if Gideon will change his mind after the sale.
