Pistols, At 20 Paces, On the White House Lawn

That’s how the outburst, during the President’s address, last night, might have been taken care of in Alexander Hamilton’s day.

This is not the 19th century, and we don’t do it that way anymore, but before calling someone a liar, in polite company (or impolite company, for that matter) one should be sure of the facts. I believe we saw the closest thing we’ll ever get to seeing some drama out of Barack Obama. The look he gave the mouthy idiot to his left was quite something.

Clearly, the pinhead (who doesn’t rate the honor of being mentioned by name) from South Carolina was not in full possession of his senses, or a full set of manners. This is the sort of thing that develops when you have such things as a sitting vice president (Dick Cheney) stand up in the Congress and tell someone to have sex with himself, in not such precise, or proper, terms. The point I am making is that Cheney should have been removed forcibly from the room at that time, just as the person with no manners or intelligence should have been removed last evening.

There is no excuse whatsoever, for this type of outburst. It shows no respect for the man, but also, and much more importantly, the office of the President.

I was reading this article in Newsweek , this morning, and the more I read, the angrier I got. There is no excuse for what happened, and there is no reason for anyone to try to act as apologist for what happened, or who was involved. There seem to be few words these two, the offender, and the apologist, need to enlighten themselves with, from a  dictionary, post haste – civility, courtesy, good manners, and respect, are just the start.

Dissent is fine…possibly encouraged, but not in an impolite manner, and not during the address from the President. [And yes, I would be as up in arms about this if it had happened to 'W' on his watch - it is a matter of respect for the office, and the place.]

I haven’t seen it but I love it.

It’s lovely in a body that refuses to recognize a speaker who isn’t wearing a tie.

I think the outburst is pretty funny.

Congress won’t even RECOGNIZE a (male) speaker if they’re not wearing a tie.

What Do You Think?
