As I was looking around, early this morning, I came upon a story on bink.nu, declaring that a version of Windows, the Professional edition of Windows 8, has been leaked from an Italian developer’s site.
The article said that the screenshots and the Rapidshare download were, of course, fakes; but how many are going ahead, and downloading the ISO?
We all know, that with the schedules that Microsoft keeps, there is no way this could be true, even allowing that it might be a pre preview. But what does it show? Is it a natural curiosity of all things purportedly Microsoft? Maybe a desire to see something different, a change for the better, away from the cosmetic redesigns of Vista and Windows 7.
How much of this elaborate hoax could be based in truth? You might think none, but with the many ‘leaks’ of Windows 7, Microsoft just may have decided that this system of leaking upcoming software is a good way of keeping a hand on the pulse of the street, yet also maintaining deniability.
