Opera 10 Revision 1723 Revealed

Another revision of Opera 10 is now available. With many small repairs to fix the interface and other workings, it makes me think about the changes that are occurring in the extremes of the browser space.
Google keeps releasing revisions of Chrome, at a pace so frenetic that only the Jolt cola crowd can keep up with the efforts, and has moved from initial release to major revision 4 in record time. On the other hand, Opera 10 has been in progress about the same time, to firm up one major revision level. The changes taking place, if you look, are about the same in number for each, but where Chrome seems hurried, unpolished, and unfinished (to me anyway – I have been extensively testing Iron 3.07.193), while Opera 10 is like a diamond, after the perfect cut, being polished to the n-th degree, while getting the new setting just right. The people at Opera still are using the 9.80 notification underneath, which is as much a nod to the outside community of their imagined progress, as it is a way of not being mislabeled as revision 1. It would seem that the folks at Opera are really wanting to achieve zero-defects status with this one, and so the wait, for those who are waiting, is well worthwhile.
For those who know this method, we jumped in long ago, knowing that the betas are so very well wrung out that they are fully serviceable for day-to-day duties.

I just got a new hard drive for my laptop, and after the install of that, I’m going to be adding Fedora to it. after that, I’ll immediately add Opera as my browser, and be able to report on the updates from the ux side of things.
In the mean time, I do see small changes with the Windows version, but nothing that was readily apparent to a user that was not used to the latest builds.
