Windows 7 Build 7264 ‘Leaked’

The next available Windows build, number 7264, has been leaked, and no one is calling the plumbers to fix the leak. The 32 and 64 bit versions are to be found, with torrents reportedly only available for short term use, as the keys distributed with the Beta and Release Candidate builds no longer work to unlock the builds for extended usage.

There is word from another site that the possibility of re-arming the countdown timer may work to extend the useful lifespan of the leaked build.

However, Windows 7 Build 7264 is likely not to be the final RTM build, as a show-stopper bug been found when it’s a candidate for RTM. Besides, an even newer build such as 6.1.7265.0.win7_rtm.090624-1905 has been known to be compiled by Microsoft. However, it’s the latest build to available to general public for free download. Both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) of Windows 7 Build 7264 is available with complete build string of 6.1.7264.0.win7_rtm.090622-1900. So the build was compiled and signed off on June 22nd, 2009.

It is amazing that all these leaks continue. I can not remember anything corresponding to this with any other version of Windows. To me, it shows that Microsoft wants to get the word on the street about the qualities of the new operating system. The company is still trying to get the holdouts to want to change.

We have been told that the special pricing that is currently available will expire, not to return. I am fairly confident that there will be another time of special pricing, coming just before the final release date. This is especially true when so many are questioning the upgrade pricing structure that has been released. If nothing else the Windows 7 Ultimate pricing will change – or there just won’t be too many copies of that version needed.
