Akasa Releases Apache Fan

Akasa,  a company not well known to the average computer user, has always been a maker of fans generally mundane in appearance, and standard in their operation. perhaps the best known Akasa series of fans are the ones with golden–colored impellers, and clear plastic housings. They are made in 80, 92, and 120 mm sizes.

Just released is a new series of fan, called Apache, which has looks only the military could love. It has a blade of mossy green color, and a rosy-brown housing, similar to camouflage colors. The blades are an S-FLOW design, which is done to assure increased output with near silence in operation.

image if you have a case that is decorated in camouflage paint, you’re golden with these – otherwise, you might want to hide them.

Akasa has recently updated its product offer with something that even Rambo would love, the Apache 120mm fan. Seen below, the fan is codenamed AK-FN057 and features a camouflage color theme, IP-54 military standard moisture and dust protection, a Hydro Dynamic Bearing with a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours, and blades with an S-FLOW design that’s supposed to deliver 30% higher airflow.

The fan works at speeds between 600 and 1300 RPM (rotations per minute) and has a sound output hovering between 6.9 and 16.05 dB(A), making it very quiet. The 120mm Apache is available in the UK at £13.79.

The fans are not carried by any of the places I frequent for fans yet, but certainly the design will be available here soon. The housing color is not far different from the color used by the Austrian fan maker, Noctua. Perhaps a trend is starting.

I need a bigger one. The dog always sits between the fan and me. He blocks my air.
