Better Late Than Never
After attempting to download the Microsoft Security Essentials beta release, and being unable, due to the overload of the Microsoft servers, I was not amused to get a letter stating that I was being welcomed to the beta test.
This was obviously a mass mailer, sent to anyone and everyone who succeeded in signing in with their Live ID, on the Microsoft entry page.
This morning gHacks is reporting that the download is still available from Softpedia and Betanews. After following the links there, I find that the Betanews link simply redirects to the shutdown portal from Microsoft. The Softpedia link, as of now, does work though.
If you want to try this out, and can’t wait until general release, give Softpedia a try. gHacks does point out that Softpedia offers better safety than trying to obtain he product through other means, such as torrents.
