RIAA Trial Verdict – Guilty!

Looks as though Jammie Thomas got jammed up good this time. The jury came back after less than a day of deliberation, with an award of almost $2 million dollars, or about $80K per song she was said to have lifted.
This is amazing! I was following a couple of blog posts over the last 3 days, and it seemed that Jammie got herself a really bad lawyer, and he apparently did not rehearse his client very well. When the story is told, she sounded like a complete idiot, which some say was the point.
She apparently was not good enough, if portraying a moron, to engender any sympathy amongst the jurors, and Capitol Records has not only a large damages award, it has a case that will start another landslide of cases against people too stupid to follow the law or do better at pirating.
Though guilty, the damages are excessive, and should be sharply reduced…but we will see.

Oh great just what the business world needs more of: a large powerful consortium winning against the little guy.
Really, inspiring here!
