Trillian Astra Gets Fix for Twitpocalypse
Who knew tweeting would be that popular? Certainly not the developers of many of the applications that are used to tweet and allow users to keep track of others’ tweets, as they are being broken, one by one, over a number than was surpassed recently – 2,147,483,6471.
Sucks when you don’t plan ahead, just ask Bill Gates!
Well, the guys at Trillian got right on it, and have a fix for your tweeting pleasure, beta 110, which holds a couple of other fixes as well.
Thanks to Tech Connect for this one.
Cerulean Studios has recently released the second Trillian Astra build since making the IM software available in a public beta stage. The 110 build comes to fix a couple of Contact list bugs and, more importantly, includes a patch for the relatively infamous Twitpocalypse, an issue that has affected a few other tweet apps.
The Twitpocalypse is caused by the unique identifier of every tweet – a number which has last week passed 2,147,483,6471, creating problems for third-party apps that weren’t coded to handle such a case. Luckily, fixes have been provided quite quickly so the Twitpocalypse is not the end of the 140 characters-or less virtual world.
If you want to have a go at Trillian Astra then download the beta release from this page.
Cerulean has won over lots of people with its slick little application, which now allows yet another way of keeping in touch with your friends and others.

Dude man. Trillian Astra is the absolute SLICKEST IM app I have EVER used. Its interface is to drool over, and once it’s officially released, Digsby’s days could very well be numbered.
