Over at My Digital Life we have -
Toshiba has revealed its TG01 smartphone which is said will be genuine competitor to the iPhone’s throne. With the World Mobile Congress still weeks away, Toshiba has got ahead of the crowd by showing off the Qualcomm’s 1Ghz Snapdragon powered TG01, and that will make it the fastest device on the market.
and has a couple of really nice pictures of the device -

Nice in black or white! What is not said at the site is that Verizon sells rebadged Toshiba phones as either simply Verizon brand, or, in some cases, branded Audiovox. Many people are aware of the stinky reputation that Audiovox had in past days, but since the ’90s it has only been used to identify cell phone and other quality products OEM’ed from high quality manufacturers.
So perhaps the Verizon iPhone is in the wings. Couple that with the best network and Verizon has a half decent chance of making a real dent in the iPhone market (we’ll see how well it plays music!).

Aah … image broken! Had to visit original article http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/02/05…) to see.
I think the legend of an iPhone “killer” is overplayed. I don’t know that anything will ever “kill” the iPhone. Catch up or match or be an equal threat? Certainly. But the iPhone has had too big of a lead to be put to death by another mobile … unless Apple drops the ball. It’s more possible they would fail to keep pace with another competitor and therefore kill the iPhone themselves.

tj, sorry about that, WordPress is currently messedup and won’t allow direct picture uploads, so linking is the only possibility. Sometimes it breaks. And Yes, you’re right about ‘killer’ - artistic license.
