I know we all see certain amounts of stupidity and non-congruent behavior every day. I certainly see more than my share as I go through my days. I have been collecting this little hit list for a while and thought I’d share. Feel free to add your observances in the comments.

• When looking for something on IMdB, do you think that, since these people are famous, someone is not trying hard enough when the entry says “No picture available’?

• Doesn’t it make sense to stop fires, during fire season, and any other time for that matter, so that the heat and carbon dioxide from  combustion is not released into the atmosphere? (ask anyone who believes in the concept of global warming – I certainly do, as I sit here in SoCal in the second week of October with the outside temperatures in 3 digits!)

• Why do the cautions of the media say that we are running out of water? The last time I checked, 73% of the Earth’s surface was covered with the stuff. What they seem to mean is that we are running out of easily obtained, fresh water, that needs little to no treatment to be potable. Why not be precise? Since when has being nebulous, or incorrect, been a good thing?

• What is it about nuclear power that frightens the many who are against it? If it is that the Earth may come to an end, is that not already happening? Global warming is taking care of much of the job already. If the problem is immediate safety, because of fear of attack by terrorists, they need to be shown the many reactors running 24/7 with no problems. I live, not 60 miles distant, from one here in California. (San Onofre)

• By the way, do we really want a person who reminds us more of Susie Creamcheese, in the song by Frank Zappa, and is another in the line of those who can’t properly pronounce n-u-c-l-e-a-r, a heartbeat away from the top job in the nation. [This is not to say that we are not ready for a woman, we’re just not ready for another dilettante near the Whitehouse. ‘W’ met the quota for another 50 years…]

• Why does 80% of the nation say that they are in disagreement with the policies of George Bush, yet the polling data shows a much closer race between Barack Obama and George Bush II John McCain? Are these people that afraid of a Negro in the Whitehouse? Or is it that they are simply afraid of anyone who threatens to think before acting?

• Does it make any sense to be told to move to the parking lot, after ordering at the drive thru? If I wanted to park, I would have done so, and walked in to order.

• Do you remember when PC Magazine covered PCs? wasn’t that nice? Kind of like when MTV played music.

• The root of the word Scientology is the same as the root of the word science – shouldn’t science have something to do with their religion? Well, perhaps it’s science fiction.
