AMD Releases New Faster, More Efficient Phenoms

Announced late yesterday, AMD has released three new processors, all a step in the right direction, but not nearly enough to claim any overall performance crowns.
However, the two more efficient processors, rated at just 65W Total Dissipated Power, and speeds of 1.8GHz, and 2.0GHz, are ready to make very attractive combinations when paired with the AMD 780G chipset motherboards. Because the 780G boards are so efficient, yet offer the benefits of either integrated graphics well beyond the range of any Intel choice, or used in conjunction with a mid-range Radeon card in the Crossfire mode, the new 65W parts are especially attractive for the green folks, and those who simply like power without higher electric bills.
The third processor, operating at 2.6GHz, but with a TDP of 140W, will give hope to some for their own version of an Intel-beater – but for now, that’s all it will be – hope. Still, the unit is a Black Edition, meaning it is unlocked, so those intrepid individuals who have lots of cooling capacity will be able to see how far it can be pushed.
We all look forward to the next iteration from AMD – it can’t come soon enough.
