Rhapsody – Making Noise

Earlier today I read about the efforts from Rhapsody to get lots of users on its ‘music without limits’ bandwagon – in effect, stating that no longer will music from the download service have any form of DRM.
Certainly an effort to be applauded, the company doesn’t want to leave all the notices only on the internet. While watching the James Bond movie, ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ this afternoon, the commercial for the new stance has come up twice.
Rhapsody certainly wants to be a bigger player in the music and other assorted content game, having already made deals with TiVo to provide its users almost unlimited download capabilities.
It makes another way for those who want to legally buy content to do it hassle-free – a good sign among the many bad ones of these days. The war against DRM is not over, but the tide continues to turn.

I’m pretty sure I got this service with Comcast, although I’ve never used it. I just prefer not to stream music.
A lot of these services suggest similar music to what you request. I always find the suggestions beyond silly. When I play Jeff Beck, I’m just not getting the connection to the Talking Heads.
It’s good that they’re forsaking DRM though. The RIAA/MPAA won’t let go of their outmoded model until they can’t afford their own coke anymore.
