Opera Impervious to Acid Once Again

Once again, standardized testing shows that Opera is the most standards compliant browser, beating the rest of the field by a significant, though not huge, margin.
This morning, Adrian Kingsley-Hughes releases the results of his tests, showing that Opera is number one in compliance, while coming in a close 3rd in overall speed. There have been others who tested Opera showing speed overall as better than the simple battery of tests that are shown on ZDNet.
While many examine the results, and laud Firefox for speed, it is important to remember that, no matter how quickly the picture is rendered, it is of little matter if it is not correct.
Opera has the best quality of presentation, while giving more than reasonable speed – and both of these choices trounce the efforts of the Redmond entry.

Nice blog post. Opera was the browser to get me away from AOHell about two years ago and I love it. Unfortunately it looks like poo on my Mac, but I’m switching back to it now with 9.5 (I plan on thoroughly spamming them to give it a cocoa theme).
Opera, in my opinion, simply feels faster than anything out there. It probably isn’t, but it feels like it. On my school network, whilst in class where wifi sucks, Opera loaded the Apple homepage a good second or so before Safari did. And the pages looked and performed exactly the same which is a huge plus.
With the addition of Opera Link, I think many more people will begin using Opera. Opera Link is likely the thing which will finally convert my mom from AOHell since it backs up your contacts (which she uses for her work).
Probably the only thing I dislike about Opera is the lack of an integrated spellcheck and the overal design of the side panel (for mail and the like). I think they could do better.
Keep on blogging Oracle, good stuff.

In the larger picture, it’s a bit of a shame that the browser with the largest market share ISN’T standards compatible.
Go figure.
I’m really enjoying 9.50 on linux and a bit on Windows too.

I have made that comment on a few forums, suggesting that if, since there is a standard, it was followed, all would be well - over time, if not immediately.
Thanks for the comment.
