Microsoft Has A Long Way To Go

I was reading an opinion, given by one of the typical talking heads, about why it was a very bad thing that the Yahoo – Microsoft deal did not work out. The line of reasoning was one of protection against a larger looming spectre. A gargantuan business that would one day make the misdeeds of Microsoft pale by comparison.

The company he was speaking of was Google.

Google has been so successful in a very short period of time that it makes some wary of the power the company is able to command. The appearance, to the interested observer, is one of a company that truly can do no wrong. Google is providing a service that everyone needs, more each day. The methods it uses to generate such large mountains of capital are those of hard work, and the benefit that provides, which is providing better service than its competitors.

The employees are people who are ambitious, but not in the same greed filled way that many workers at a large corporation might be. The employees have the desire to make a good living, but as shown on documentaries such as ‘Big Ideas for a Small Planet’, are driven also by a need to contribute to the betterment of society in general. They work to be green, as the their employer. people are shuttled to and from work, avoiding many tons of carbon dioxide generation, as many vehicles are left at home, unused for the commute to work. Should the need arise for an employee to use transportation during work hours, there are electric vehicles available for use, with power provided by the canopy that holds many solar panels, and protects the cars from the weather.

Google further provides meals for their employees at work, further saving trips away from the workplace, pollution, and travel time. With this, and the shuttle service, the employees arrive at work, and go home, in a better humor, and knowing that they are part of the global solution to the ecology problem.

On the Google building, there are solar panels to provide power for all the computers inside. Google has made a pledge to become carbon-neutral, a tremendous undertaking, and something that shows this company has only the Earth’s best interests at heart.

With the benefits the company provides to the world, and the places it wishes to occupy in society, it is clear that this benevolent titan is a model that its aggressive competitor, Microsoft, and all other conglomerates, could do well to emulate.
