Symantec Releases XP SP3 Fix

In a true case of the lesser of two evils, Symantec has released a tool that fixes the registry corruption issues found on certain machines when the Service Pack 3 for Windows XP is installed.

The story given is that the Symantec product causes part of the problem observed (Microsoft is responsible for the rest, but blamed all of the problem on Symantec, however, a paper trail shows there were problems like this on some machines with SP2 installs), as the Symantec software was caught trying to proactively deals with what it saw as a hacking attempt.

The tool is available to anyone now on the Symantec website (there is no genuine set of hoops to pass through such as another manufacturer is so fond of making us do).
