Was It Too Much To Expect?

The website for the maker of the OpenComputer (MacIntosh clone) seems to be up and down, the company seems to have shifting addresses, and delivery of product seems to have stopped.

Was it all a short term scam to grab a few quick bucks? No one seems to know at this time, but as in all things seeming too good to be true, this one probably was. Too bad, as the aggressive pricing would have made Apple work harder to deliver more value, and results-oriented people would have had their knock-off on the cheap.

It is sad that things like this are happening, in 2008, when we, as consumers, believe that progress has taken us so far, It is probably incorrect to call this a snake oil routine, but certainly it smacks of an old fashioned confidence game.

Several sites are watching this, and hope is being held by some - but holding one’s breath is inadvisable. (Have you ever noticed how many scams originate in Florida?)
