Comcast Subscribers Get Litigious Over Throttling

Many people are concerned about net neutrality. Most people who know what the term means are for the idea. So when Comcast subscribers who have had troubles with their television product, and then with the definition of ‘unlimited service’ being haggled over, get the word that Comcast has been throttling P2P traffic of all kinds, they get indignant.

Several consumer rights groups have worked with subscribers to put Comcast in the light of inspection by the FCC. Asked for is a $195,000 fine for every subscriber that can be shown to be throttled down.

The groups see this as a test of not only net neutrality, but the efficacy of the ‘new’ FCC. With all of the bad press over the digital television change coming, and the problem seen by many with the ‘white space usage’, it is past time for the FCC to prove it deserves its existence.

Since Comcast is the largest cable provider in the country, a victory for the affected people could prove to be quite costly.
