New Memory Standard Promises 3X Performance of GDDR3

Qimonda, a division of Infineon, has developed a new memory standard that promises 3 times the speed of the current standard memory for graphics, with no errors! The memory uses CRC to assure correction of single and double bit errors.

Part of the change in performance is due to two separate clocks being used. A read cycle clock and a write cycle clock are part of the architecture, which Qimonda has shown capable of 20GB/sec performance.

The first modules are rolling down the lines now, which are 512 Mb pieces, assuring next generation density as well as next generation speed.
