Santa, I Want FiOS for Christmas!

  • No Related Post

Verizon announced that customers lucky enough to live in an area served by their Fiber Optic Service will be able to do all manner of things previously unattainable without paying for a T1 service to your house.

The announcement was that 20/20 service was to be available for only $65 per month. That is 20 megabits per second symmetrical! You can host your own website and have thousands of hits per day - if your end is up to the task. You can host a game server for 64 or more players, and not cause the person in the other room doing research for a college paper to swear at you. This is the stuff that geeks and nerds dream of nightly.

Now if they will just move the damn line of demarcation another 2 miles - then I’ll be able to get it!

Oh, please Santa, I want this for Christmas, but it’ll also be okay if I have to wait until New Years Day.

I want this as much as you do. Sadly, I live in a state in which I cannot receive a Fiber connection, so I’m going to have to wait for Verizon to provide service here.

I envy anyone with a FiOS connection. I really do.

I am hoping for it right after the first of the year - I just found that Verizon’s fiber roll is coming this way soon. Yippee!
