Google Leads Search Rankings (Doh!) Stock At New High

One day, this logo might carry as much weight as Chanel, Christian Dior, or Oscar de la Renta (get your t-shirt now)
It comes as no surprise that Google, once again, leads in the number of search queries for the month of August, but also up was their stock. One share of stock in Google is worth $560.04. Zow! It certainly would be nice to have a couple thousand shares.
The figures show that YouTube searches are what put Google far ahead of Yahoo in queries. Yahoo is down somewhat, but the big loser is Microsoft, as its sites have lost 110 million hits in August versus July. No explanation is given for the loss, however, I would assert that simply getting to a Microsoft site at peak hours has been difficult or close to impossible. And at other times markedly slower than at the first of the year. (Could it be all the computers there running Vista? - imagine me with a wry smile.)
Also without mention was Ask, which has been growing, or so we are told. The natural language interface is certainly nice, and there is no difficulty getting there.
Google certainly has had a fairy tale life thus far, and if the effort it is putting into the free productivity software offerings and its contributions to the White Spaces Coalition only partially pay off, that fairy tale will continue toward a very happy ending.

Hi there,
Indeed the stock is riding sky high. However how much of that is due to it being top dog and how much is it simple economics of the deflated dollar sending investors into the tech sector overall?
I made this very point last night on my blog if you’d like to check out a supplimental opinion:

Thanks!

Ari, I’m not sure why it is happening, probably a comibination of factors, as usual. I only know I wish I’d had money to get in early.
Thanks for the comment.
