Could Your Next Video Card Be a PS/3?

Well, not the whole console.
Today, Toshiba announced it will be using a version of the Cell processor, developed by Sony and IBM, for use in laptops for graphic duties. The SpursEngine, as Toshiba has named it, will be used to process multimedia graphics quickly and efficiently in their laptop lineup.
The SpursEngine does not work alone however, so it will be the first laptop multi-chip graphics solution from Toshiba. The chip is reported to draw 10 to 20 watts while working, and uses Rambus XDR DRAM because of the high speeds at which it works.
The chips will be shown at a trade show in October, with Toshiba marketing the chips to others soon after.
Who knows what company will be the first to line up for the chips? And what enterprising group will unlock the secrets of the chip when put on a video card? It just might be that soon someone you know will be playing PS/3 games on their home PC.
