Vista Not Ready for 2008 Olympics Says China

Citing the need for technology that is solid and proven, the Chinese government is eschewing the use of Vista, in all but the most unimportant places.

The chairman of Lenovo stated that no technologies that could cause any trouble are to be avoided for the first Olympic Games in China. This also means that wireless networking will be avoided.

Lenovo, the official computing sponsor of the Olympics in Beijing, has already delivered 12,000 PCs and 2,000 printers for use during the games. After that 5,000 more have been sent for the athletes’ use and to hospitality suites.

All machines but the last 5,000 mentioned will be running XP, while the non-essential units will feature Vista.
