Summer Replacement Reruns?

Things must really be sucking at the major networks, as some of the shows in short summer run are already showing repeats.
Is this because of the holiday week, or is it because the producers can’t produce a show in a week’s time? What ever it is, it really makes ‘progress’ a word less and less applied to television programming.
With the dearth of new, good content, is it really necessary to move to digital television? Looking at upscanned reruns of old garbage, or the news is not something I consider palatable. [What idiot started all the furor about seeing the news in HD anyway? Must have been a bean counter, because it could not have been anyone who otherwise had any clue.]
As some of the responders to my column have said, when analog television goes dark, the response will not be a mass movement to purchase an HD set from Best Buy. It will be an upsurge, unseen before, to NetFlix, and others who rent older, quality content.
