John from Where?

After watching three episodes of this program, I am still unsure why I am watching. This is more disjointed than the critically acclaimed piece of crap known as ‘Pulp Fiction’. One wonders if Quentin was in on this, as it takes someone that bizarre to formulate something this extraordinarily strange. I probably should get online and check the thesaurus, as extraordinarily strange does not do this justice. I’m not sure there is an adequate description.
John may be from Cincinnati, but perhaps there is a Cincinnati on some extraterrestrial place, because no one coming from Ohio acts or talks like this.
When looking at the HBO Web site, it appeared that that John was an idiot-savant. We have fully seen the idiot, but we’re still waiting for the savant.
Whatever this is, it is interesting, if for no more reason than to see what will happen next. Come to think of it, perhaps that is the whole point of the show.
Comments appreciated.

“If you produce it, people will watch”
David, people will watch, David. They’ll turn their TV to HBO and John from Cincinnati for reasons they can’t even fathom. They’ll sit mesmerized not knowing for sure why they’re doing it. “Of course, we won’t mind if you watch”, HBO will say. “It’s only $13 a month to subscribe. They’ll pass over the money without even thinking about it; for it is money they have and thoughtful entertainment they lack.

John, thanks for the comment. I suppose what you say is true. I don’t, however, think that The Sopranos left a huge vacuum this summer. It is just that the mass of good stories have moved to Showtime [Meadowlands, new Weeds coming], and USA [Starter Wife, Dead Zone, 4400, new episodes of Monk, and coming up, Burn Notice].
There was also a movie on USA late last year, about the problems in the Canadian equivalent of the CIA. Not sure, but I think it was titled Underfunded [if it wasn’t, that was the gist of the show] I was hoping for a series based on that movie, because it was very good. But I’m sure you know what happens to anything too good.
