Fox News reports that the chief of programming at NBC is ready to do anything to get Rosie O’Donnell on his network. Apparently her escapades on The View have garnered her quite a following. Possible programming for O’Donnell could be a nighttime game show [Who Wants To Be a Loudmouth?] or a daytime talk show patterned after The View [My View, Damn It!]. It boggles the mind.

Continued reading shows this to be no joke, which should show why NBC has such low ratings, and that all of the good ideas at NBC Universal go to the sub-nets [Bravo, USA, SciFi].

Rosie O’Donnell had a show on daytime television, many years ago, which was usually shown in the afternoon. It was an hour of relief from an otherwise fitful day - until the show’s run was near its end. The show during its last few months on the air became a vent for all the views O’Donnell could possibly dream up concerning the militant feminist lifestyle. At the time, it was dismissed as the pressure of a five day per week schedule and the other vagaries of live television.

In the article Fox cites the tremendous ratings that The View had during Rosie’s tenure. This only proves women like a good fight now and again, sometimes more often. It also served to get the viewers pumped up for the afternoon soaps on ABC [always a good thing].

It appears that all parties concerned with O’Donnell’s leaving The View believe it will be hard to replace her. This should not be the case. Roseanne has expressed interest in filling the wide end of the table, and can effectively communicate her ideas without histrionics, shown by her appearances on Real Time. As a bonus, she’s funnier.

As for O’Donnell, Ben Silverman, the network exec interested in her might be able to make her big on television once again. I’m thinking Celebrity Death Match, without the clay-mation characters.
