Overclocking Project #3: 3Ghz in 3 Minutes

Watch the video here.

When I first got this processor, after falling short on my older AMD Athlon 64 3800+ at 2.94Ghz, I decided to put it to the test. The processor being tested here is an AMD Athlon 3700+, and yes there is a big difference. The stock speed of the 3700+ is 2.2Ghz, and the 3800+ is 2.4Ghz. It seems weird that I fell short on the processor that has a higher clock speed, but it’s true.

I’m happy with the result that I got with the 3700+, but I definitely don’t run the processor like this constintly, only for benchmarking purposes. My currently run the processor at 2.6Ghz with only a .025 voltage increase. I ran the 3800+ the same way, but you would think with the stock speed of 2.4Ghz, it could handle higher, but it doesnt.
