Video Editing Woes

Nothing is more annoying than having to hunt through a bunch of programs that are post to “Convert files for easy editing” only to find out that it DOES NOT index them correctly.
I spent quite some time trying to convert a file from flash, only to find out that none of them could do it because real player DOSNT download them and index them correctly! There is also a site that does it, and it did not work either. Believe me I have tried them all. Why would you want to do this you ask? Well I have asked permistion from many people over on you tube if I could use there content on one of my channels, asking for the raw file. But most of them did not have it, so that ment copying the flash file..
So its back to doing it the old fashion way, using a screen capture utility. Oye!
I do not care what program you mention I have tried every last one of them, believe me! None of them will work, I tried also several different programs to capture video on screen. The only one, no matter what you say…. The only one for windows that is worth a dime, is CamStudio, and guess what? Its Free! No water mark, nothing, just free. I feel bad for trying to cheat on it now, after all it has done wonderful service for me thus far.
What is the difference?
Well video riping software, takes a video as it is, the video, and sound at the same time and thus there is little to no chance of audio lag. With screen capturing software it tends to capture the screen first, then compress the audio. If you do not sync it correctly the result can end up looking something like this…
Remind you of a old chiniese voice over dosnt it?
So that explains why I was looking for a better alternative for getting fan videos that the creator no longer had the raw file of. NOTE: The video above was not originally recorded by me, as you can see. The source video had the lag, however I have my utility tuned to perfection. If I did not then that video would have been rendered unusable in my eyes.
I will keep on the hunt, if you know of a program that meets the fallowing requirements, then drop a comment.
- Works with Windows XP.
- It will copy a file with the video and audio together, and converts it to WMV.
- You have then been able to edit it with Windows Movie Maker.
If you found a program that can do that, your a god send, spread the word around!
Disclaimer:
This is a quote from the copy write office.
“The distinction between “fair use” and infringement may be unclear and not easily defined. There is no specific number of words, lines, or notes that may safely be taken without permission. Acknowledging the source of the copyrighted material does not substitute for obtaining permission.”
I bring this up because I am aware that some of you may come here looking how to illegally obtain videos. Read that statement carefully before you do. You will find long as your using the creators work respectfully and ask nicely, that they will give you permission.
