How do you react when someone compliments you? Do you make a joke out of it? Do you blush and stammer and feel awkward? Do you thank them? Or do you just feel they are telling you what you want to hear to get something out of you? It’s getting harder to give a sincere compliment. Not because there are not good things to compliment people about. But, I feel people will not believe I am sincere or they will be embarrassed. It’s a shame.
Have you heard of Operation Beautiful? It’s random acts of kindness based where you leave a note for any stranger just saying something positive. Especially geared to making women feel good about themselves. You can join the Facebook group, or better yet write out some notes and leave them to be found around wherever you will be today.

I didn’t follow the link, however I’ll state my initial reaction and assumption (ass out of u and me) which is that giving people compliments just for the sake of it seems insincere.
As for the questions posed. I usually take compliments well, owtwardly, and say thank you - though I’m more often not in agreement with it enough to feel lifted by it or it may be something rather generic or old that I’ve heard many times. People tell me I have beautiful eyes for example, but it isn’t impacting because I’ve heard it over and over throughout my life.
When it comes to people telling me what I want to hear, I guess I’ve been played thoroughly enough throughout my life and by now that compliments aren’t really effective in the same way they once were. The best compliment is a genuine smile shared, I guess.
