The Dating Game Continues

I am nearly burnt out on dating, the online version. Yet, I never seem to meet anyone offline. I talk to all kinds of people but somehow it doesn’t become a date-like thing, ever. Is that just me, or do other people find themselves stuck with online dating as the only working option?

I’ve been married before, we met as penpals. Writing snail mail which was an early online dating thing, before email. We weren’t married long, by some standards and then I was a divorced woman, back to dating. I only had one guy that worked into an actual face to face meeting. Most men ignore women who aren’t “fit”. I’m kind of a small town girl, even through I grew up on the outskirts of Toronto. I didn’t like feeling I was so inferior I didn’t even rate a no thank you email in return. It was interesting to read posts in messageboards from men complaining that women didn’t answer their emails or that they were also given the same cold shoulder without a no thank you email. Shows it does go both ways.

I did meet a guy I really liked, but we only met through emails. I’m not sure what happened to him. I’m surprised I could still fall into feeling so much for someone I had only met in letters. I’m not an online newbie, I’ve been through my Internet addiction and my big Internet romances and I’ve learned to be a little jaded. So I knew better. I just couldn’t forget him. I last heard from him in July. Anyway, I have gone back to trying again. I thought I wouldn’t but I’m just the cat who keeps coming back. I want to find someone to be a part of my life, to do things with. I think that’s what we all want really. Some just want some perfect packaging around it. I’d be glad to find someone I enjoy talking to. Most days that would really be all I’d want.
