We’re in the midst of the silly season. Political ads fill the airwaves, our snail mail boxes, and YouTube. If you don’t listen to local radio or watch local television, you’ll miss out on much of the fun. It’s attack ad after attack ad, with each side firing an endless stream of salvos. Watch enough of these ads and you’ll start to see a pattern.
With radio and television, the advertisements are time-limited … just thirty seconds to fire off the bullet points and hammer home the message. YouTube offers far more time for the candidate to clarify their position. But does it work?
Have you been influenced by political ads? Which genre has more sway?
