My jaw dropped when I opened the electric bill today. Okay, so I was warned. I just didn’t expect it to be this bad … now it was cold last month, but sheesh … it looks like the spiffy new home office electric fireplace conspired to double our electric bill. Sure, it was on sale for half-price at Lowes. But maybe it wasn’t just because the winter had been so mild around these parts (until that point) …
I haven’t had the chance to hook up the watt-hour meter to break out the exact cost. But it looks like the half-price savings were eaten up in roughly a month.

Ouch.

On a positive note, we might hit 70 degrees around these parts tomorrow! Spring is about to be sprung and with any luck, my electric bills will drop as the grass starts to grow.
