Computer Gloves?

  • No Related Post

There’s nothing quite like a good pair of gloves to chase away the winter’s chill. My fingers are the first to feel a drop in temperature … clacking away at the computer keyboard becomes an ordeal when the office grows cold. My solution? An impromptu set of computer gloves. While I’ve looked high and low for a pair of suitable computer gloves, the solution was sitting in the closet.

We have a basket filled with winter hats and gloves in our front hall closet. This morning’s single digit temps called for drastic measures. I went for the heavy-duty leather winter gloves and mad bomber hat for the morning’s chores of putting out the trash and walking the dogs. Lo and behold, what fell out of the basket when I pulled out my bomber hat? A pair of my son’s little knit Nike soccer gloves …

I put the soccer gloves on the counter and headed out with the dogs. When I came back in the house, I looked at those little black Nike gloves again. The wheels turned in my head.

“I wonder if I could mouse and type while wearing those gloves?”

Well, sure enough.

I turned off the spiffy electric fireplace around 9:30 and opened up the shades to let in that free solar heat. When the house system kicked down to it’s normal daytime setting, I pulled on the knit gloves and settled down in the office to ride the day’s temperature roller coaster.

While I had initially thought of using some form of open-tipped work gloves, these little knit soccer gloves (not goalkeepers gloves!) have been wonderful to use at the keyboard. The gloves are relatively thin and provide just enough insulation to ward off the chill without a loss in tactile feedback while typing.

And as side benefit, they cut down on snacking. After all, who wants to snack while wearing gloves? Eating becomes a conscious effort when you have to first remove your gloves …

My son’s Nike gloves are a few years old. I didn’t see the exact model online when I checked at soccer.com. But there’s a set of Under Armour gloves that look like they would fit the bill just fine. Something else to put on the list …

I had the same problem with cold fingers. The work I do requires speed & accuracy. No gloves worked well enough.
My solution? The Warm Keyboard  www.warmkeyboard.com). Works great for me!

Sheer genius. Used to work in an office that would be FREEZING and I’d have to go warm my hands under hot water every 15-20 mins. You are smarter than I. Now, just need to find a good pair. Didn’t find any under armour stuff @ soccer.com as you suggested.

I’ve used thin polypropolene gloves in the winters of Japan to manipulate fine settings upon my weapon system when I was in the army. As long as the wind didn’t pick up, these worked great. Seems they fit the bill as well.

I found a heated keyboard (with free shipping!) at http://www.keyboardheater.com/
I love it!!

Where can I find the best winter gloves? I looked over the internet abut I can’t find a glove that will fit nicely on may hand. I want a glove that I can use even at work and indoors.
