CareerBuilder to Affiliate Program: “You’re Fired!”

Employment advertisement site CareerBuilder.com is laying off its affiliate program. In an email to its affiliates, CareerBuilder, which bills itself as “The Largest Job Search, Employment, and Careers Site,” announced today that it is canceling its Commission Junction-administered affiliate program, as of February 10, 2007. There was no reason given for the cancellation, just a tepid word of thanks…

The CareerBuilder affiliate program provided three revenue streams for webmasters: job posting applications (50 cents), job postings (13%), and “consumer products” including resume writing ($20), and resume distribution ($10). The cancellation includes the Jobs.net affiliate program, as well.
Other employment advertising sites, including segment-leader Monster.com, continue to offer affiliate programs. Monster.com pays commission rates of 12-17% per sale and between 50 cents and $1.00 per lead.
