Custom Holiday Cards

Every year, about this time, I vow to create my own custom holiday cards. This is the year I do it. I’m finally going to create a custom holiday card to annoy and amaze all of my friends and associates. Having cut my teeth in the printing and design world, I’ve always been too worried about creating the perfect card … year after year, this has lead to my “no card is better than a crappy card” excuse.

So we end up, scrambling around the week before Christmas, looking for store-bought cards that aren’t too ugly for words.

It’s one thing if you buy ugly cards. It’s quite another if you design them.

My all-time favorite card was a photo greeting card of the gang sitting in a lifeguard chair, at the beach. There wasn’t much creativity involved … we just took the photo to the pharmacy and had them crank out a few dozen postcard-sized prints, using their standard cheezy graphics.

I’ve vowed to do a whole lot better this year.

I don’t have any artwork yet, but I have a theme. I’m not spilling the beans until it’s done …
