Summer Vacation Redux

My inbox has been relatively quiet the last few weeks. Now I haven’t written anything remotely controversial in a while, but that’s probably not it. I have a hunch that half the gnomisphere is off somewhere on summer vacation - even if only one, check that, just one gnomie cared to share the location of a favorite vacation spot. What’s up with that, my friends? I was hoping for a whole lot more

Try Washington State. There are many wonderful places in Western Washington. Point no Point, Long Beach, Port Angeles, etc.

I spent serious time googling Tom’s suggestions. Some Pacific Northwest coastline sure would be nice right about now. Alas, I’m stuck on the other side of the states.

I really love summer vacations that are somewhat off the beaten path. I’m not into the sticky crowded city scene. An Orlando vacation can be tons of fun in the summer, but only if you can deal with the humidity and the crowds.

Wide open beaches and ocean breezes usually do it for me. There’s a house rule about summer vacation that requires that it be spent (literally) near a large body of water. But maybe it doesn’t have to be an ocean, come to think of it … Lake Tahoe might be nice.

Or perhaps it would be cool to spend a week or two hanging out with Gordon Gecko in the Hamptons, a good bit closer to home but I don’t relish even that drive. (Relish isn’t the word. I still have nightmares about being stuck on the Belt Parkway as a kid. The mere thought of slogging through Long Island makes me carsick.)
