Concept Cars!

Sad but true, the NY Auto Show is one of my fondest childhood memories. (I’ve been a car guy since Day One.) Fast forward three decades. These days, the show has become an annual rite for my son and I. If you dig hi-tech cars and have never been to a serious car show, your life just isn’t complete. Our whole brood caught the show this year and I snapped some awesome concept photos …
There were three key memories for me as a kid: seeing a real Ferrari for the first time, seeing a wicked fast jet car (I think it was Art Afron’s Green Monster, but I could be mistaken), and meeting Enzo Stuarti (”That’s a nice!”). Hey, I was just a kid!
While we didn’t meet any celebrities this year, we saw some insanely cool cars (including a handful of Ferraris). There’s no better way to see all the cars you can buy (and a whole bunch you can’t) in one place at one time.
The boy loved the trip, of course. The girl tolerated it. And my darling bride? She’s actually looking forward to making the trek again next year!

You mentioned the NY Auto Show a few decades ago and Enzo Stuarti. Do you happen to recall a light green concept car that Enzo had built especially for him that was displayed at one of the NY Auto shows circa 1974? He was sitting on it as it rotated and smiling as usual.
My uncle built the custom car for him which had a Ferrari or Maserati undercarriage but a McLaren style body, although a street car.

I can hardly remember yesterday … :)
Very cool story about the custom! Must have cost a pretty penny back in the day, eh? Think the car’s still sitting under a tarp in a barn somewhere?
