I got a call from the local Apple Store today. The technicians brought my tired old iBook back to life, and in just 24 hours, to boot (literally, even). Yeesh, that was fast! I’ve only received one suggestion for an after market laptop battery source, so far. I haven’t had a chance to follow up, unfortunately, so I’ll be tethered to the power cable for the time being. Gnomie Ken kindly suggested a battery rebuilder …

Seems like a cool idea. I’ll check in with the battery repair depot in the morning to find out if they can rebuild my original battery.

The message on my VOIP voice mail caught me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting the laptop repair to be complete until next week.

This will be the iBook’s fourth power supply. The first three power supplies all succumbed to the broken prong syndrome.

With this in perspective, that spiffy magnetic power supply connector on the new MacBookPro looks to be sheer genius. With any luck, I’ll have the opportunity to slobber on a brand-spanking new Intel-powered laptop at the Apple Store tomorrow … and go home with a rejuvenated Old Faithful …
