NiMH Battery Tagging Caveat

Posted by on Jan 30, 2006 | One Comment

Last week’s article on rechargeable NiMH battery tagging brought an interesting and important caution from the Gnome-o-sphere …

Gnomie Ramesh kindly shared some words of wisdom:

Careful – I did this last year and the labels made the batteries thicker – they got stuck inside the camera – wouldn’t come out – so (we) had to destroy the batteries (very carefully) – so we wouldn’t destroy the camera.

Wise advice, indeed.

I’ve been working on a skinny little template for the battery labels. As designed, the labels should cover approximately 1/3 of the diameter of an AA rechargeable NiMH battery, to avoid making them too thick. I’m fiddling around with the label to make it work for AAA batteries, as well.

If anyone’s interested, drop me a line and I’ll email or post a step-and-repeated PDF …

I opened my GPS in order to change batteries. There are two batteries per channel. Unfortunately the furtherest battery is stuck inside. How can I remove it without damaging the GPS?
