CES: Converge or Die Trying

Okay, I confess … I’m not at CES this week. I’m just sitting here in my garage office, trying to keep up with all the stuff rolling out of Las Vegas. In the midst of forming an opinion about the importance of the show, I’ve been sidetracked by a trip through the Yahoo News slideshow. Holy cow, is Tom Hanks really sporting a mullet? And what’s up with DirecTV President and CEO, Chase Carey’s mustache?
It’s the Wild West, baby.
Is that Michael Dell or Tom Jones? Is Ron Howard starting to look a little bit like Mike Love of the Beach Boys? Is Justin Timberlake as irrelevant as Microsoft’s new Urge?
Forget that, did you know that you can buy iPods and PSPs from a vending machine at the Las Vegas Hilton? Wicked!
Howard Hughes is doing back flips. Forget the gadgets, this is all about content.
I’m Tivoing the Inter/AC Milan match up on GolTV, but I think it overlaps with the Liverpool game on Fox Soccer. I better hurry up and post, because Howard Stern is on with Larry King. Sure would be nice if I could control the Tivo from my PC, but oh yeah, I have DirecTV.
Convergence my ear. No, wait … my wallet.
Perhaps Steve will give us one box to control it all.
At least it’s not me waiting half an hour for a cab. Been there, done that, submitted the receipts …
