When the rumors started to fly this week about the launch of an ultra-cheap Google PC or a mysterious “Google Cube” at CES, I just shook my head. Trace it all back to the original LA Times article and it’s all the more bizarre. Some folks might think that Google is ready to ship something other than bits. I’m just not buying it …



Of course, I’ve been wrong plenty of times before.

Is there really a brand-spanking (in so many ways) new Google OS?

Do we need a “Google Cube” between our PCs and our TVs?

Would Google cozy up to Wal-Mart?

Will Larry Page unleash a monster on Friday in his CES keynote in Las Vegas, or will it be forgotten by the time that Steve Jobs weaves his Macworld magic in San Francisco on Tuesday?

And wait, what is this? Industry luminary Chris Pirillo presenting on Podcasts at Macworld? Batten down the hatches and scroll to the bottom of the page!

I started to spec out a Shuttle PC, but I think I’m gonna wait a week or so before I entertain the thought of actually ordering anything …
