While I love the brilliance of single-item simplicity and impending event thrill of Woot, Overstock’s wide range of inventory is the black hole of time.

Given the time, I’ll wander Overstock’s virtual aisles for what seems like hours. But making a purchase decision on impulse can seem like a gamble … whether I’m in the market for a foosball table or a set of poker chips. (I’ve bought the former from Overstock, but not the latter …yet.)

Coupons, of course, help to turn browsers into buyers. If they didn’t work, they wouldn’t be so darn popular.

Speaking of impending events, it looks like Overstock is offering $1 site-wide shipping until August 15th, with free shipping on all vacuums (alas, I couldn’t turn up any iRobot Roombas).
