I’m sitting here, typing away at full speed. There’s a big soggy chunk of air parked on the east coast and it’s making me nervous. Pardon the speed typing, but it’s raining cats and dogs and the sky is rumbling something fierce. While I usually enjoy the spectacle of nature, there are three reasons I hate thunderstorms …
Lightning strikes and hi-technology do not mix. While I’m a firm believer in uninterruptible power supplies, I’m strictly old school … when the lightning gets close to rancho indebto, I shut off the computers. No computers = no work, generally speaking.
Heavy rainstorms knock out the Satellite TV … that means, Tivo or not, you’re gunna miss your show. No signal is no signal. (Heck, if it doesn’t come back by 11:00, I’ll have to tune into the local broadcast news and miss Lou Dobbs … at least there isn’t anything on tonight that I really wanted to watch …)
Basement flooding only happens around these parts when the rains are intense. Those nasty storms that dump a couple of inches of rain per hour can make my life miserable. (The mop up routine has become routine …it’s the feeling of dread and anticipation before the flood.)
Okay, there … I’m over it … and it sounds like the worst of the storm has passed, to boot. Lets see if I can post this into the CMS without things going snap, crackle, pop …
