Verizon is running an aggressive new advertising campaign to push their DSL service. As part of that campaign, the company touts a J.D. Power and Associate report that polled “thousands of consumers nationwide” on factors including cost, billing, image, performance and reliability, customer service, and email. Unfortunately, the results don’t always look good for Verizon’s DSL service …
While Verizon’s DSL service comes out “among the best” for cost and billing, the consumer responses on three important factors are lackluster.
According to the report (and Verizon’s advertisements), their DSL service “does not really stand out” when it comes to performance and reliability, customer service, and email.
Perhaps DSL is the more economical option. But price isn’t everything.
Flipping through the DSL vs Cable comparison chart is amusing. If you thought you hated your broadband ISP, wait until you see the ratings for some of the big cable companies. :O
I’m happy with the service from our local cable company (knock wood). Sure, it could be cheaper … but it works well. I’m not sure I’d be willing to trade off ten or twenty bucks per month for something that ended up being slower and less reliable … and besides, I’ve pretty much given up on the dream of running a T1 line to ranchero indebto …
