Fake Cellphone Calls

  • No Related Post

Cellphones … can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em, some might say. To tell the truth, I can live without a cellphone. Easily. Of all of our modern conveniences, I find the mobile phone to be the most annoying. It’s not that I want to be out of touch — far from it. If you want to get a hold of me, send me an email. I’ll get it no matter where I am, eventually, (if my email server doesn’t eat it, that is) …

Staying in contact is one thing. Being nagged by jangling ring tones at horridly inconvenient moments is quite another. I like to deal with my communication needs in a discrete manner … not by spewing personal or business conversations into a public space. I’ll take thumb-typing over ear-to-the-phone, any time.

I know my public education dollars are being wisely spent when I read that Rutgers University Communication Professor James Katz has performed classroom research that shows folks faking their cellphone calls.

What’s next, Meg Ryan in a deli, faking … Oh, nevermind …

It’s time to put two and two together, starting tonight. I’m looking for some sick VC money to fund a phony cellphone call startup that will quickly eclipse the fabled Monkeyphonecall.com. Speed dial us and we’ll ring you up with a phony cellphone call, freeing you from those sticky situations … be cool, fit in, impress your friends and business associates … all for an extra $9.95 a month.

Sheer stupid genius … and it scales! :)
