Time to Load that Tax Software

It’s that time of year again. No, not March Madness … tax season! With the advent of spring comes the opportunity for your PC to shine, as you load up your tax software of choice to tackle the formerly arduous task of tax preparation. Around these parts, TurboTax has always gotten the nod. Intuit’s formidable tax program is one of the greatest software franchises of all time …
Once a tax software company hooks you into their program, they’ve most likely created a return customer (bad pun intended) who will order the new version, year after year. I’ve been using TurboTax for so long, I can’t recall exactly when I started … but I have an inkling that my first box of shrinkwrap came with 5-1/4 inch floppy disks.
These days, it’s hard to imagine that tax software could come on anything but a compact disc. I know that I’ve come to take the helpful videos and raft of included forms for granted. And I’m oh-so-glad the days of driving from post office to post office looking for those tax forms at the last minute are long gone.
Procrastination will only get you so far when it comes to getting your taxes done. At some point, you need to bite the bullet and start in on the joy that is the federal (and state!) tax return. If you haven’t loaded that tax software (no matter which brand!) onto your computer yet, there’s no better time than now.
I’ve made a promise to myself to get started this weekend and wrap things up before the spring soccer season begins … not like last year …
