ISPs: Time to Switch?

Posted by on Feb 24, 2005 | No Comments

How satisfied are you with your current Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Would you be more likely to recommend them to a friend or to an enemy? If you’re still on dial-up, do you get busy signals or have other problems connecting? Do you get disconnected without rhyme or reason? Does your ISP crawl like molasses? Does their inadequate customer service drive you insane?

I’ve used the services of half a dozen ISPs over the years.

Parting isn’t always such sweet sorrow.

I was happiest to leave my satellite Internet connection behind. But come to think of it, I was pretty darn happy to ditch my 56K connection for the satellite. I guess the romance didn’t last that long. If you’re thinking of going with a satellite ISP, I have three letters for you: FAP.

Now that I’m on a cable modem connection, I’m statistically less likely to switch ISPs. Or so they say.

I’d have to say that I’m highly unlikely to switch ISPs, since there’s no other high-speed Internet access here in town. Well, actually, make that on my side of town.

The other side of town can get DSL connections from the local phone company. But seeing as ranchero indebto is too far away from the CO, I’m SOL.

There’s one great reason to switch ISPs that you don’t see in the advertisements. It’s all about spam. When you ditch an ISP, you have the opportunity to start with a fresh email address, leaving that old spammed out email address to fade into oblivion.
